In Ensenada Mexico

We arrived yesterday afternoon, after the Port Captain's, Immigration and Customs offices were closed. We had a reservation at the Baja Naval Marina so we tied up there and walked a short way down the waterfront. Krister and I were both tired from our over night passage, and from all the excitement in San Diego so we put on a movie while we ate dinner and turned in early.

Today we had the last real shower we'll see in a while. Check in wasn't too difficult, although the amount of forms filled, copies of original documents and the back and forth between the bank, immigration and customs was silly! Now we're all checked into Mexico and ready to sail to Islas Todos Santos. We hope to find a quiet anchorage there where we can relax for a couple days while we wait for the wind to pick up.

Also, I've been working on remodeling our blog- so please be patient. I know it can be hard to read and the photos aren't always near the text like they should be, but soon it will be awesome!

  2. Thanks for posting pictures and writing (I need to brush up on sailing terms because I didn't understand much of your wind/sail explanation. It just sounded difficult. I'm glad you made it to Mexico safely.) We are missing you and praying for your safety and good decisions. Love, Jess and the Wille's

  3. I am still so excited for you two.
To you keep you abreast on what is happening, I have been celebrating an Amanda day in the bay. I walked the lake with Mark, had Ethiopian and a movie (not Harry Potter--too many memories) with Suz and then I went to work at the green shirt lounge where I tried not to look for Amanda coming around the corner and telling me bar patron tales of the night. Missing you terribly but keeping you close to my heart, Banana. Okay, Krister too ofcourse. Big kisses and hugs!
    Love Kathie
(I don't know how to post under my name. Weird...working on it. )
Oh ya, Bob Brown and his wife wanted me to tell you Hi. He was very interested on how you were doing. I told him all that I know on where you are and such! :)

  4. Hey Amanda, it's Gene. It's strange to drive by Crogans and realize you are not there. Someone once said you can fairly well judge a persons age by the amount of pain they feel when they are confronted with a new idea. This is my first blog post, where's the asprin? My grand daughter turned 12 and is still into Kung Fu.I bought her a star for her birthday, (Name a star),It's called Jordyn's Star. I don't know whether this will reach you or not,if it does, have a great trip! Gene

  7. Amanda, I just found my first post on your site, so I guess it worked! I find myself paying more attention to satelite weather reports now I know someone out in the middle of it. I enjoy reading your comments on Kristor's mechanical abilities as they are now a matter of survival, a perspective that few modern people (read women) appreciate, I know-MCP. I envy your adventure. 8. Dan Seymour told me that there might be a winery in Todas Santos (town out of Cabo San Lucas-correct?) if he remembers correctly. Might be something to look for when your on dry land. Just a thought. Missy you!

  9. Oh man love the comments! Miss you all and am smiling big right now! Sorry I can't post today- the internet cafe computer is giving me a hard time. Lots of good things going on- like we weathered our first "storm" beautifully! I'll write about it when I'm able. Until then, we'll be hiking the hills around Turtle Bay, and heading out to Abreojos to get Krister some much needed surf!

  10. Glad you are enjoying yourselves. I was worried when it showed your boat hasn't moved for 3 days. We are good here. Delani is getting to downhill ski for the 1st time today, with a friend! Gavin is in Fargo, ND enjoying a monster truck show with G&G Wille and cousin Dalton. Miss you. Can't wait for more picture posts. How far south are you thinking of going again? Jackson and I were checking your route.
    Love and hugs,
    your sista
